Yep, noticed the same thing. Not to mention basic appliances from like 50 years ago running just fine. I went through 3 coffee grinders in 10 years and the one at mom's is made in the 70s, and works just fine.
I'm not even beginning to talk about computers and more complicated devices. It used to be about quality, but it makes no sense to sell hardware that lasts 20 years if you want the consumer to buy the new model 2 years down the road...
