To give a lot of people a feeling to be a part of this fiction world to enjoy it in the same way like we who just born with white skin - just missing of pigments. It don't hurt you and me in any way and may can help others to identify with characters. I feel bad when I imagine a black kid that loves fantasy have to feel to be not a part, just cause it's black.

I really can't understand why this is such a problem. In the end I don't know any other way than calling people who have a problem with this racists - but I don't do that and i do not want to bring this discussion in this direction.

I understand discussions about changes in characters - and maybe yes the series will be shit when it comes. But for me is a 50 years teeny looking Frodo a bigger issue than the existing of black skinned Drawfs and Elves. If they would have blue skin - nobody would talk about this, it just would be a normal interpretation of art. We see actors - nobody look like Tolkien imagined. What if the black actor was just the best actor for this role in the casting? You prefer a less good cast just for skin colors?
