Ambulanceman 'took photo of dead accident victim'
An ambulance technician has been suspended for allegedly taking a photograph of a dead patient with a mobile phone.
Lincolnshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust says it had launched an internal investigation into the incident.
The employee, who has not been named, is alleged to have photographed a corpse - believed to be the body of a teenage girl following a road accident - with a hi-tech phone.
Relatives of the dead patient have been informed. The fatal accident happened in North Lincolnshire.
The trust's director of modernisation Noel Wade said: "The trust extends its sympathy to the family concerned and would seek to reassure them and members of the public that this is a highly unusual and isolated incident."
A spokeswoman for the trust added: "As a result of a recent incident a member of trust staff has been suspended from duty and is currently subject to an internal investigation by a senior officer of the trust.
"This action has been taken in line with trust policy on disciplinary matters. It would be inappropriate to make any further comment at this stage pending the outcome of the investigation."
Humberside Police are not taking any action. A spokesman added: "Having been made aware of the issues and looked at the circumstances, the Police are not investigating this incident and have left the matter to be dealt with by the Lincolnshire Ambulance Trust."
