Sorry to hear about this PSDan! But to answer your question: YES it could get worse. You could have died, you could have gotten a life-changing injury, lost a leg...the list of how worse things could get is very long so just be grateful you are still here!
Heal up, regain your strength and get back on the bike as soon as you are able to.
