yeah my brother's a doctor, he consistently brings up three things as the major contributing factors in the cost of american health care:
1) more than half his time is spent on obese people with expensive chronic conditions
2) massive administrative departments with all the grift that entails
3) fear of malpractice litigation leading to doctors always recommending the most cutting-edge expensive treatments even when they're really not necessary
