Hi awwhoez, Thanks for your questions.
First, what I suggest is that you wait - we have new products coming up in January which I think you will like better than our current offering, which offers a much clearer data ownership policy. In the meantime though, here are the basics:
- With each license that you
purchase, you have the option to host it on our servers (at tmdhosting.com), or on your own servers. You can use your own bare metal servers, Virtual Machines, or anything in between. The operating system has to be Linux and personally I prefer Ubuntu. We provide full support regardless of your choice of hosting providers.
You
do get the source code, and you are free to customize it as you want to, but since we provide free customization, it is better and faster if we do it for you. The license would not give you the permission to resell or distribute it in any way, but you could transfer it of course.
If you prefer to save money and not purchase a license, then SaaS (Cloud) versions will also be available, on VM's that we maintain and service for you, but you would not be able to access or edit the source code.
- We make no claim to any of your data, whether you are hosting with us or not. Your customers, models, data are completely yours.
- For hosting, we currently host all of our servers at TMDHosting.com. We considered getting into hosting ourselves but it is hard to make a business case when places like TMD, Linode and AWS, Mojo etc already offer hosting services at very competitve rates. So what we have decided to do is simply offer technical support services for our product on your hosting provider of choice instead.
