Last year I attended a seminar by Amazon where they demonstrated
Glacier and Glacier Deep Archive services. It was really impressive.
For those of you who don't know, "Glacier" data storage is a cloud-based storage service designed for long-term data archival and backup. It uses magnetic tape technology to store data, which is a cost-effective solution for storing large amounts of data that is infrequently accessed.
I had no idea magnetic tape was still in use. So cool! I love physical machines and would love to see a tour of one of their facilities with tape drives one day...
