If I remember correctly, you'll fly solo with as little as 8 hours instruction. You'll likely be practicing touch and goes with your instructor and after landing he'll jump out of the plane and tell you to keep going. It's a surprise move. There you are, on the runway and it's time to solo. Exhilarating! The remaining 32 hours is flying and learning navigation. It's definitely an experience you should not pass up.
