I believe for prostitution after an official arrest, you may be detained for up to 13.5 months before formal charges are made and the case is transferred to the court (you may be given bail under certain circumstances). Research shows that China may not have laws set up and are seeking to create them since they were honestly unaware of the problem. That being said some girls have been let go while others were fined but law makers are still figuring it out
