There are so many strings on a guitar - keys on a piano and beats for a drummer to use in any song to give it the feeling an artist wants.
So what if it is similar (its a stretch) - there is no way that Sheeran ripped it off as much as you could rip off a blues lick for many songs or base cords for rock.
