Do what I do: Stick to your budget.

TV's drop in price really quickly, like alot of other tech. If you spend $4000 for the latest and greatest today, it will cost have that price in less than a year.

I am comfortable spending $1400 - $2000 for a TV because I know I will keep that TV for at least 8 years. The $2000 I spent for my 4K TV in my home theatre is still nice and I am still happy with the picture and performance. I will eventuall upgrade to a laser projector someday but I'm in rush, especially since they cost about $6000.
