With tubes the oldest sites out there like sleazy dream, milkman book, elephant list, etc all died a quick and painful death.

The affiliates who made comfortable livings with $6k months went to $2k and had to find jobs.

I'm doing 250% better now than I did back then. But the industry has shrunken 20000%.
Who is "everyone"? Everyone I know is doing better than they were 15 years ago.

The affiliate model was just a way to acquire traffic. There is more traffic than there ever was before, and today's companies are doing just fine with that traffic.

The fact when it became harder than "submit a gallery and watch sales roll in", everyone had to get a job, just shows that those guys were lucky to even be here.
