I have one blog with high-quality content but it is constantly sinking. I guess it is because of links but I can't exclude speed because I did what I could a long time ago and there is still a lot of place for speeding (regarding score). The alternative is to replace WordPress theme but that usually ends very badly.

I'm in similar situation, got a WP ranking for a few nice keywords, but it got shitty google speed metrics.. I optimized the theme multiple times, but there isn't much there can be done.. maybe switching to WebP instead of JPG as last resort..
But yeah I dont want to switch themes either, I'm afraid I will lose rankings.
