This is just a guess, but it might be that the social media company (YouTube) thinks the evidence is strong enough that it would be better for them to go ahead and drop him instead of waiting months before the case goes to trial.
If the company were to keep him, and if he were to be found guilty, the company would look bad for giving him that much airtime when they should have known better.
Yes, it sounds unfair, but apparently the evidence against him is overwhelming. If Brand is found innocent, he might have a case against the company. So, it's kind of a gamble. But again, the evidence against him must be pretty convincing.
Ultimately, we are talking about a business that has a choice to make and as a consumer you have a choice you can make as well.
