You seem to have missed the part where the snail "cannot be killed" (2nd bullet point) so doesn't matter how much salt and how many flame throwers you use it still creeps on, slowly, following you, forever or until it kills you whichever comes first.
Much better to pay your debts, err, I mean not take the money and live a happy life without having to worry about that stuff following you around for the rest of your life.
