I don't think his company will be able to create a competitive AI that can compete with OpenAI/Microsoft. So far he's all talk. The only things from his companies that work and fly are his rockets and spacecraft, and they only fly because they are built on NASA technology, funded by NASA's generous contracts. These contracts operate on the principle: if it launches, great; if it explodes, you take the blame, so the public and the taxpayers don't give us a hard time.

Everything else he's done is cobbled together from cheap Chinese imports, from robots made in Chinese factories to Teslas assembled from inferior materials and just as prone to combustion as their Chinese counterparts. They also lack a Level 3 autopilot like Mercedes offers. PayPal wasn't originally developed by his team, and right now he's just running Twitter into the ground. Not exactly what I'd call a successful "inventor"...
