So, because I was almost called a "liar" here, so here's how everything goes.. I never said I met Joe, I said I know him long time and have worked on projects related to him in past. Never said I had a drink with him, sat at the same table, or hang out. It was business related, outsourced to me and the rest of the team, while working in previous companies.

I explained everything carefully, not asking for vouching or references from Joe, since I'm not applying to provide any services nor anything similar in this case. He approached to me and asking for a bump, as can be seen above. I was nothing but nice and polite and doing a favor.
