I pay mine into the Halifax which isn't far from me. It takes a long time because the cashier has to fill in a long form. I've not worked out how much they charge for converting the US cheque but I'm sure it's more than what I get charged for accepting a wire transfer. I've set it so that the minimum payout from CCBILL for my affiliate account is $1,000. It would be silly to receive cheques for $100 or $200.
