I remember when I was 18 and my Rx-7 blew its engine, I got a 12A rotary from the junkyard INSTALLED for $300! Can't remember if I talked about it on RevScene or not.
That's right... the engine, and RE&RE combined with fresh oil, antifreeze, was $300 total out the door. This was back in 1996-1997ish. This was about a week's worth of my wages working on a cranberry farm.
I wonder if you had a 10 year old car in 2024, say a 2014 Toyota, and if you needed a new engine plus RE&RE, how much it would cost? Probably a wee bit more than 1 weeks of wages...
