The easiest would probably be to use img2img or an upscaler with a low cgf so it doesn't change the image much just slightly. You can use an upscaler that does realism well, just don't actually upscale it (keep the resolution the same) and use a low enough cfg that it doesn't really change anything expect small details or slight changes. You'd have to play with the cfg depending on the upscale or img2img model you're using to get a good balance. If you find a good number that does the body well but find the face changing too much or too little you could always inpaint the face so it doesn't change at all then inpaint the face with a different model/cfg that does change the face as much or little as you wanted.
You can also run it through an upscaler and then add face detailer to it. Face detailer will auto detect the face and have its own settings with how much or how little you want it to change.

Thanks for the post and explanation! I probably should have Googled it first. I'm not very familiar with AI, aside from the few programs I've played around with.
