I think that explains why it's so cheap.
The certifiers, KJM and GSI, do not appear to say whether any service actually meets the requirements of individual laws. How messy this whole process is. I don't want to go down a rabbit hole of integrating a service only to find out it's suddenly not enough of a verifier.

Just an update on this. I found that it's an AI library that detects age via webcam locally in the browser. It doesn't appear to be consistent but did receive certifications via go.cam, not from the underlying library. That does mean you can self-host it. No idea on how effective this will be as age verification though. YMMV.
