I used to be like you. Didn't cut my hair for a job, wouldn't do a job that required a drug tested. I thought those were principles, but they were shallow excuses. Then when the market crashed in 2008, I was old enough to go, "I've had enough, I need any job, not just for money, but my sanity."
Get the shot.
As for the job market itself, before I landed the gig that I still do part time today as a fall-back, I realized that you need work to get work. So I was already putting feelers out there to volunteer at a dog shelter. But it could have been anything, like helping veterans, helping at a homeless shelter or senior center. Gigs get you more gigs.
Magic is action to make change occur. Without that change, you're in a rut.
