the target is people downloading these HD-DVD encoded movies.
the demo movies posted here are not excessively huge, 12 MB per minute of video average, go check out DeluxePass, nothing but DivX DVD rips , probably in the same file size range as these demos.Surfers and buyers of content overwhelmingly favor downloadable movie files over streaming. If the HD-DVD movies really are this small then there are plenty of cable and DSL surfers who would rent/buy the movies
I'm not sure if these demos are HD-DVD, could be just standard WM9 encoded files captured from the source which is HD-DVD. Better the source better the encoded movie will be. The videos are beautiful quality but I've seen the same quality in DivX rips.
Gateway posted some cool info. Even if these WM9 demos are HD-DVD, if our monitors are CRT we won't see any appreciable quality over a standard DVD?
pretty amazing stuff - the data transfer rate on these porn demo movies is like 6MB/sec yet the file sizes seem to be averaging
about 12 MB per minute of video. If you use Adobe Premier's default setting to encode MPEG-1 files at about 1MB/sec you'll get about the same size file as these HD-DVD demo movies, i've seen some guys on GFY produce nice quality 1MB/sec MPEG's at about 8 or 9 MB per minute of video.
this stuff is for videophile geeks, a high quality MPEG-1 movie is what most porn surfers want.
No doubt Microsoft is going to own this market eventually.
