i dont think many new sites would use up 50gig b/w a month, that is sites that are just starting off, if a brand new site suddenly used 35mbit+ a month i would praise the guy who invented it a genius!
btw it is called "virtual" or "shared" hosting, there is a big market for it, as all our "virtual" or "shared" hosting customers will attest to. What you have is "dedicated" hosting. They are different types of services
with "dedicated" hosting you usually (i dont know of many cases where you dont) get access to root of server. With virtual, we use cPANEL, you get your own control panel

and you can run you site from there, and there are several of these on the one server thus "shared" hosting.
