BTW .. The War of 1812 was started by the US for not much reason at all. I think the origin of the term "War Hawks" is from that war. No one lost the War of 1812. The peace treaty was signed on equal terms. You'd have a much better case arguing the US lost in Vietnam since it didn't achieve its objectives.

actually, if you had read my response... the US was invading Canada. They decided that it was useless to have a bunch of french people taking up half the of the great lakes... the US should have all of the great lakes for themselves. So they started advancing.
Canada just had to hold them off long enough for Britain to win their war and get here. And Canada did just that for a very long time, despite being out manned and out gunned.
So in that respect, even though no one "won" really.... I consider it a Canadian victory because they achieved exactly what they had set out to do.
