I'm sure you know the difference between surrendering and not surrendering. The Germans unconditionally surrendered. The major battles at the end of the War of 1812 forced Britain to withdraw. If the Germans had won major battles at the end of World War II to drive back Allied troops then we could talk. They didn't.
