1 man many sites vs 1 man 1 site
Hello all. What are your thoughts on which of these strategies would work better for mainstream sites?
For these comparisons, take into account that all the sites are focusing on one category. Like Dogs for example.
1 man with many sites:
Lets say you build one to two faily nice designed Dog sites per week. These are very specific sites about a specfic breed or topic for this example. All the sites have their own domain, etc. The catch for this is that once you build it you practically don't do any updates for the site or add new content because you are working on the next site. However, you do update the links to exchange links with your new sites. After awhile you have like 100 dog related sites. Since they are specific, they should pick up specific keywords searches and since they are all linked together they all should rise together in page rank as you build.
1 man with 1 site:
This site is a big site with lots of dog information about everything and ranging over all topics. Its updated frequently and aims to be a large community. This type of site requires lots of time to maintain.
Do you think the many site method works out well to maintain a steady stream of traffic? It seems like with method 1 you can enjoy traffic from a network of sites without the time requirement of maintaining 1 main site.
