bingo... my grandfather died in 2001 from throat cancer brought on from years of smoking. He was in termendous pain and his entire family had to give up their lives for the last year and help him. My mother and her brother were holding him when he died...I knew him well enough to know that he must have been thinking he wished he hadn't smoked when he saw his oldest and youngest (of four) kids going through that emotional pain. Not to mention what it did to my grandmother.
Yet, my father and my husband still smoke and won't give up. I love them both but it pisses me off that despite seeing the hell it put the family through they won't try. People go on and on about personal freedom..and we will leave second hand smoke alone .. it does not just effect you. It is saying 'I don't care how much this hurts you' to the loved ones that are going to be there to nurse you through death.
