All you guys that think your bad ass and say bring on the lung spots.. or I can deal with the cancer later I want to live now will be regretting that if you actualy do have problems.
My father was a bad ass. Said the same things. Totally blue collar to the core. Strong as hell... never seen him cry, works in a stone quarry 16 hours a day, drinks beer like a fish etc. etc. You know the type.
2 years ago he started complaining about it being hard to breathe. Of course we urged him to stop smoking. He slowly backed off but wouldnt go to the docs right away. Untill the day he couldnt breath at all. After being rushed in to the hospital they discovered a bronchial disease (I dont know the name) caused by smoking. This tough guy was reduced to near nothing. Each breath he tried to take was work. He said it was like trying to breath hot air through a straw. He quit smoking then (obviously) and his entire tune changed.
Just this past February he was diagnosed with stage 3 NSC Lung cancer. He has been undergoing chemo and a barrage of other drugs to fight it. Right now things look good. He has no hair but the tumors (there are 2) are slowly shrinking. Things can go bad fast so we are just hoping for the best. He still works at the stone quarry full time and is still his usual self but he is extremely humbled. Not being able to breath and facing death each day has shown him that he wasnt as tough as he thought. He tells me if he had to do it again he would NOT smoke.
You may feel invincible now but when each breath is a chore you will realize you are wrong. Try to think ahead. Not only will you suffer but who will you leave behind.
/rant Take what you want for my post.

true. And in addition, in countries like the Netherlands or canade, you charge society for your self-caused disease.
