My grandpa experienced D-Day and saw 4 of his close friends die in front of him from artillery shells or grenades. I don't remember. Anyway, he lost a couple of fingers and his leg was almost amputated. Thanks God he survived or else I wouldn't be here right now. When he was talking about D-day I could almost feel his fear. He said that this was hell on earth and that he felt relieved that he could kill at least one nazi that killed his friends before being transfered back to Canada.
