There was a huge queue even though all the desks were open... but a woman came around saying that if anyone was making a simple transaction such as a deposit or withdrawal, there's no need to wait in the huge line, she'd take care of them. She took my £ cheques and paying-in slip, and said they'd be deposited before closing time (4:30pm). I said I also had dollar cheques, but she said she couldn't take care of those. So she got another staff member and together we took care of the forms, it took only a few minutes, and I was out of there.
I went shopping, got home at 5, checked my balance to see that, as she promised, the pound cheques were deposited. And the cheques from other TSB customers had cleared instantly, of course.
THAT is great customer care.
Had that been Halifax, I'd have been queueing with those dollars until closing time.
