I hate the mainstream world for some reasons, and like it for others. Here are some different points comparing mainstream and adult. I know they don't all apply to every situation...but they're just items I've encountered throughout different projects.

1. It's difficult to have any type of 'exciting' stats in the mainstream world. Be it online, or coming through your doors..the numbers start out smaller, and grow slower than adult in most cases.

2. There is usually more overhead involved in mainstream industries, because they're more physical, and less virtual. You are most likely selling a product of service, so something has to happen, and somebody most likely has to make it happen.

3. A lot of that mainstream overhead comes from people being less involved, and moving slower than adult. There is less communication, slower correspondence, less open mindedness, oversized staffs, etc. Many times calls, emails, orders, etc aren't answered in real time in the mainstream world...or even that day. Things don't happen on the weekends, and people don't sit on their computers all day being fed with new information...they're less aware of what's going on in the world or their industry.

4. Mainstream tends to deal more with inventory, or some type of service. For services, many times this involves scheduling for you and/or the client...and dealing directly with the cients. This can be rough. It's something the online world doesn't deal as much with. With inventory, you can have more money tied up in inventory than you normally would with adult. This isn't always the case obviously, but more often than not, it probably works out that way. That being said, having mainstream inventory that is not perishable can be a blessing as well. If you're dealing with something that holds, or increases, it's value, then you are under less immediate pressure to sell...and you're company can be adding in value even if it's not active.

5. In adult, you only deal with adults, or only intend to deal with adults. This can be good..but overall, we know that a lot of adults are assholes. So sometimes it's nice to be able to deal with non-adults and/or people that aren't surfing porn from their basements all the time. So mainstream can be interesting like that in moderation.

6. As for the mainstream business world, it's just obviously much much bigger than the adult, and offers so many more options. A LOT of people spend A LOT of money on porn...but what percentage of an individual's day is spent looking at porn? People buy it..but they also buy phones, jewelry, pants, glasses, carpet, gas, cars, houses, land, islands, guitars, lighters, baseball cards, and the list goes on and on. Each little section of the "mainstream" world, is a huge industry to itself. So although it presents a ton of headaches...there are major worthwhile benefits to being a player there as well.

Anyways...I'm off to play some cards.

Have a great night!
