Ok.. so here's the deal.
I have a sony vaio laptop that is used for development.
Off the network, meaning not connected to the net in any ways.. i fdisk, format and restore the system using the sony restore disks. remove all the worthless software that is un-needed. then connect it to the net behind a firewall and run every single update windows makes available.
So basically this machine is as updated and supposedly secure as they come now. With no 3rd party software, no email applications, NOTHING...
I remove the machine from behind the firewall, and as I'm preparing to ghost the machine so that i can restore it to it's pristine state at a later date should i need to... suddenly i start seeing alot of network activity.
Weee.. this machine has been trojaned and is participating in a DOS attack against some poor fuck!
