Over the holidays we went to my hometown. There is a sign near the mouth of the Kern River Canyon, that tells you 216 people have died in the Kern, (dubbed the "Killer Kern") since 1968. The thing that fascinates me is that the sign is built like an old time scoreboard in that the numbers hang from a nail and can be replaced without having to repaint the sign every year.
I drive out there sometimes and take photos of that sign. I don't know why. It's just interesting to me.
On my way back from the canyon, there is a slow long gradual incline, and to either side are foothills. Well on Sunday, there was a motorcycle rider off to the left at the top of the hill. For some reason the sun, and the clouds, and the rider just seemed to line up just right. The River had me kinda down, and so this image seemed to lift my spirits. It's only been resized to 1024, and compressed for web.
