I've had cast iron skillets and pots all my life, as did my mother, my grandmother, my great grandmother, etc. At no time have we EVER cooked a hamburger over flame using one, lol!
I love cooking on the outdoors grill and refuse to use anything except true hardwood charcoal, but when it's below 32 degrees outside, I do my "grilling" on the GF grill. Does it taste the same? Of course not. But it's better than panfrying a burger.
