Actually no, it doesn't. Being fat and lazy make you fat, I've had at least a couple beers a week my whole life, back when I was younger way more than that, and I'm in good shape. There was actually a study recently that showed beer is not as bad as everyone thinks, and that if people would quit the snacking and 6 hour TV sessions that surround the drinking, they'd be fine.
