The sites we have done that way are showing an a low average of 5.2 months (mostly because customer stopped production) to as high as 9.4 months (keep producing weekly- they keep coming back).

Biz 101 - its easier to keep a customer then to get a new one.

Episodic, Reality - it all means the same thing - $$$
I've seen a few (very few) sites that do a weekly episode type content, but what happens if you start going into a story that many of your members don't like for weeks on end? Assuming that is you're only doing one storyline at a time.
