Fucking Cocksucker Snow!
Flaked Out
You survived Monday. And you think you made it through Tuesday, getting to work on the snow covered, but mostly passable roads. But as Al Jolson used to say, ?You ain?t seen nothing yet?. Because the second wave of the storm will turn the city into another slippery mess during the afternoon rush and beyond.
Over the past 36 hours, Toronto received 20 centimetres of snow at Pearson International Airport, and 10 in the downtown core. But forecasters are calling for at least another 10-15 centimetres in the city, and more in places like Mississauga and the Niagara Region. Combine that with brisk winds and we could see ? or maybe that should be not see ? whiteout conditions by nightfall.
Snowplow crews are working overtime to try and keep up with the storm, which is like a boxer that never gets tired. No matter how many gloves they put on, it just keeps punching.
?All the main roads have been plowed two or three times,? confirms Transportation Director Gary Welch. ?The side streets are about half plowed, and they should be finished plowing sometime this afternoon. Our sidewalk plows are out ? throughout the day, and we're now sending out salt trucks to try to get as much snow off the road as possible.?
And authorities are warning you about a ?do? and a ?don?t?. Do stay off the roads if possible. And don?t expect to get anywhere quickly. Because slow and steady wins this race. And there is a finish line. Forecasters expect the snow to taper to flurries by nightfall, and we may actually see the sun on Wednesday.
