I've found the best thing to have when promoting a site is the managers of that site/affiliate have pleasant and smart customer service.

These people work their asses off and don't always get the applause they deserve after an hour on the phone with some nut who wants to know why his password doesn't work or can he use his wife's card instead of his.

An often thankless job! This goes to webhosting companies too. We can often be pains in the ass to these people but we should give them a big round of applause too.

Why? Because the customers come first. When I hear of a company who has great customer service, I sign up with them asap. It shows me that somebody at that company is on the ball and that means more conversions and long term gains.
