It maybe that they got big fast (in network size) and a little arrogant in the glory of their fast growth, hiring and expanding, without making sure the foundation they were built on as a business was strong enough
They also, for sure did not act responsibly or listen to their webmasters
From a personal standpoint the sextracker counter started off pretty good, but then started to become shittier and shittier, so I dropped it months ago, along with a lot of other webmasters, leaving either people who were too busy to see what they were doing, people who were oblivious, or rip off or marginally legal sites, displaying their counters
Their hosting began as a very good hosting system, then they started siphoning off traffic, through sneaky little surfer limit consoles, and splash pages. When freesites went down, the writing was on the wall...
I stopped using them over a year ago for hosting
I never used the money tree, so i can't comment on that
It does really show you that, as a webmaster, you really really need to check out the programs you use, and activly have to be involved in the 'net and it's happenings before you get burned big time
also you'd better diversify your income and sites a little, if you're smart
