You can also pick up a used copy of "Dianetics" for .50 cents somewhere, but that is nothing but a sales pitch. Basically, it's like a multi-level marketing (Amway) version of religion mixed with voodoo psycho-analysis.
They claim you can have perfect memory, vision, hearing, focus, sex drive, etc.. We all start that way, but are senses and brain are distorted through early life traumas. Only through Scientology can we slowly fix these traumas through strange "auditing" sessions that involve holding on to a tin can with wires (see Travolta's pic) and counseling with a more advanced member. As you progress up the path, more money is required. At the top you acheive "Clear" status - which means you have fixed the brain kinks (again, Travolta in the pic is a Clear Level 3). When you reach the top level, you are rewarded with the information that humans were sired by an alien named Xenu.
