That happened to me on my laptop last month. The only thing that was different was that I wasn't logging in anymore with a windows user and pass. (I took my laptop home for Winter break)
I made sure that I log in each time now regardless... it still fucks up once in a while but a reboot handles it.
I figured it was something to do with the registry but I think it's more along the lines of user profiles set on login. I'm no guru though, good luck.
