If you had been paying attention to the news, you would see a lot of your assumption are wrong. In a nationwide poll of likely voters John Kerry beats George Bush by 9pts and John Edwards beats Bush by 1pt. Also polls and exit polling are showing that Kerry has avoided the tag of northern liberal because of his military service. People see him as a real war hero especially when you stand him up next to Bush. Furthermore Kerry is doing better than any Democrat with the male NASCAR voter because of his military service. That particular group of voters is the most important to Democrats.
