Just my thoughts.
I personally do not like diallers. Ok they may work short term, but I am not sure how many surfers will want to pay dialler rates each month when they can join other sites for much less - and stay with them. I prefer to look at long term, and keep members happy for a long time.
People in the UK are getting far more happier paying on line. I think in the past people were wary, but to be honest, how often do you turn on TV and hear about problems paying online with people stealing cash. Not often, its probably these days the least credit card crime done.
Debit cards are very popular in the UK. I suspect Debit cards are not used as much in the USA. As such most sites seem only to offer credit card payments. In the UK Switch cards are owned by many people, so if you can take payments this way then its great. The problem with debit cards is that people under 18 can own them, and so unlike credit cards which means only those 18 and over can access your site. With a switch card, a 14 year old can access your site, and so there is a chance that you could be providing porn to under 18 year olds. Switch after all is an electric version of Checks, and so anyone with a bank account can have a Switch card (just about).
Another major problem is that most sites only quote USA dollars. $10 sounds a lot but its only about £5. Many UK surfers will not be able to know the difference, and so may be put of from joining thinking the site cost more than it does. I also wonder how many of those in the UK who read there credit card stament may think they are being cheated, as the amount taken from the card each month will change. I.e., $30 may be £15 one month and £16 the next. I wonder how many cancel thinking they are being cheated.
I am surprised how little USA payment systems seem to cater for those in the UK considering that there must be millions of UK pounds spent on the net.
