I had the same problem with my old Tecra 8000.......it had nothing to do with the power cord... the tech guy suggested that I not repair it and just get a new one. (He wasn't trying to sell me anything, it was a repair depot). I forget the problem now because I buy a new one each year and that was ages ago.... I can look it up if you want me to...
