Mozilla Firefox went up to 88% cpu usage, 29% memory usage (150mb worth), and was a bit slow to use, rest of my desktop responded just fine.
It did shoot up to 94% cpu usage when I scrolled, but as I didn't feel like reading the thread, I closed the browser window and continued about my business.

mine is xp professional and the latest IE... so it was likely an IE specific exploit. The error message I got was a critical failure in nv4_disp which must be my nvidia driver...
