It was proabably an employee who had access to the programming and was either pulling a stunt or revenge. I've worked in network security and an estimated 80% of all security breaches are "inside jobs" .. followed by 12 year old kiddies who download auto-rooters from warez sites.. there's no hard stats on "real hackers" because it's seldom that they ever get caught.. and they never brag or publisize their "jobs".. they're usually receiving a big paycheck .. if they even exist.
