?? about warning pages

Hey all, newbie here.

I've seen a lot of warning pages follow the format "blah blah blah... by clicking here I certify I am of legal age to view adult material.. blah blah"

This raises a couple questions. a) Since minors cannot legally enter into contracts, does this have *any* sort of legal standing? b) Wouldn't this potentially give a prosecution an edge, i.e. "Clearly you knew minors would access your site or else you wouldn't have put up a warning page."

Just curious if warning pages are anything more than a token effort, like webmaster Joe made made one back in '96 and everyone followed suit, or if any legal-types have actually recommended their use.

Nice board by the way. Been following most of the biggies for months now - this one's my favorite.
