Exactly! There are way too many on death rows that ARE innocent so that should be enough right there to just house them for life (let alone the millions saved in appeals costs).
We had on close by... they made that movie 'The Thin Blue Line' about. They were going to fry him and he WAS innocent of killing that (oops Texas cop)Depending on what you read it supposedly is 15 to as much as 30% of death row people are totally inncocent of that crime. Might be guilty of some other but not serious enough to kill them.
The UK has nice touch too. NO press until AFTER except to report the crime with no names. Like ths Robert Blake thing. They are winding up to prove him guilty in the press so what could we expect the outcome to be? Especially after the OJ trial. People are human and all of that will come in to play if they ever try him.
I guess my question is why LET McVeigh martyr himself? Martyrs generally have copycats while old men in solitary rarely do. lol 18k (or so they say) a yr houses him. And one appeal can go 1 mil a WEEK. Just the costs to set up to put someone to death costs a small fortune. (watched that political show Sunday morn where they were throwing figures out) It was amazing on the costs they incur.
So lets lock him in a cage, toss in food once a day and forget him. Martyrism should be reserved for the people in the RIGHT. The Joans Of Arc etc.
