Some tribes in Africa hunt for monkeys for dinner by first hollowing out a heavy gourd, then putting meat inside the gourd, and then leaving it in the jungle.
A monkey would eventually smell the meat and come around to get some. He'd put his hand inside the gourd and grab the meat.
But... once his fist was closed around the meat he could no longer remove his hand because the opening was too narrow. He wanted the meat so badly that he would not let go. This would slow the monkey down and the hunters then had an easy kill.
So...
Holding on too tightly to something that isn't really working out as good as you'd hoped will just slow you down, and eventually you too will be eaten for dinner. Don't be afraid to let go and run free.

And for water, the tribesman in some places burrow a hole into a dirt wall and put food into it. the monkey comes, grabs the food, wont let go and the tribesman comes and feeds the monkey rock salt from the earth. The monkey loves the salt, but gets super thirsty fast and the tribesman hides behind a tree, the monkey dying of thirst drops the food in the hole and heads for the nearest pond of water. The tribesman follows the critter and finds his water. The end.
